Ski racing great Marcel Hirscher has confirmed he will compete for the first time in five years at Sunday’s season-opening World Cup giant slalom event in Sölden, Austria. Hirscher stepped away from racing while at the top of the game back in 2019 after winning his 8th consecutive World Cup overall title and one year after taking home Olympic gold in the giant slalom and combined in PyeongChang.

The 35-year-old Austrian-born Dutch racer announced his comeback in April and has been in New Zealand this summer getting back into racing form. No confirmation if his comeback will extend to the 2026 Winter Olympics but we hope it does. Can’t wait to see one of the best to ever do it back on the big stage.

Coverage airs live on Peacock Sunday morning (5 a.m. ET first run/ 8 a.m. second run).
