"We Are Not Experts" Montana backcountry ski movie

Enjoy this highly relatable ski film exploring five backcountry ski zones as filmmaker Micah Robin teams up with Johnny Egan to capture the raw experience of chasing couloirs in Southwest Montana. The film was shoot over the course of two years and candidly does not omit some of the less glamorous aspects of scoring ski touring lines:

“Ever wallowed through knee-deep facets on the ascent of a scree-laden ridge line all in pursuit of a few potentially good turns? Bail on a backcountry mission when the snowmobile sh*t the bed—again? Turned around just shy of the top of the couloir because you just barely missed the temp window? These probably aren’t moments you recognize from your favorite ski movie, but they might be things you’ve experienced in your own backcountry pursuits.”

Cheers to everyone who showed up for the premiere at Roly-Poly Coffee Co. in downtown Bozeman:

“We still can’t believe how many people came to watch We Are Not Experts premiere Roly Poly Coffee Co. last week. Turns out that watching ‘not experts’ trying their best is kind of relatable. And also funny. And a helluva good time. In addition to all your beautiful faces in the crowd, we were stoked that the northern lights made an appearance just as the credits were rolling and Signal Fire was taking the stage for act ii. Such a special way to punctuate an incredibly special evening.” –Micah Robin
