62-year-old French climber Alain Robert is world famous for his illegal urban ascents of some of the most famous buildings around the world. Known as The French Spiderman, Alain has climbed the New York Times Building in New York City, the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia and the Cheung Kong Centre in Hong Kong to name a few. Alain had plans on climbing The Shard in London, but the building’s owners caught wind that he was on premises scouting a route and obtained an injunction preventing him from ever returning.
The man is no doubt a colorful character that adds loads of panache to the normally subdued culture of climbing. Alain looks incredible at 62 and he is clearly invested in his appearance, even when hanging off the side of a sheer cliff with no safety ropes.
