The idea of ski goggles with a heads up display has been discussed for years and years, but with the Apple’s release of the Vision Pro, announced to the public back in June of 2023, it seems like we’re closer than ever. With smart goggles like them, so much seems possible. Even, maybe, learning to ski just with the goggles? YouTuber Zac Alsop took the goggles to a french ski resort this past winter, attempting to use them to learn how to ski, and to learn how to speak French.
The way the goggles work now, it seems pretty clear that they aren’t very ideal for skiing. But who knows! With this tech, a proper ski heads up display could be wild. Like a full blown map of the mountain, with a little dot showing you where you are or where friends are. Combine AI and a heads up display and maybe the goggles could provide insights on what to do better? Have it remind you that $23 for chicken tenders is too expensive? Personally I’ll just stick to regular ski goggles for as long as I can.
