If you have spent any time this summer hiking or biking around the west side of Snowmass, you’ve no doubt seen progress being made on the new Coney Express quad chairlift installation as part of Master Development Plan.
Crews have been hard at work, recently installing footers for the lift towers with the help bit of air support in the form of helicopter dangling concrete buckets to make the job a bit easier. Helicopters involved in this type of work are called “aerial cranes” which is pretty badass in my book. Work will continue throughout the summer to install the new lift which will replace the Coney Glade chair which first went into service in 1986.
It is scheduled to start spinning in 2025 and with the aim of moving skiers and snowboarders out of the base area and alleviating congestion on busy days.
If you’ve hiked or biked around the west side of Snowmass this summer, you’ve probably seen something big taking shape. Crews have been hard at work on the new Coney Express lift so it will be ready to spin on opening day of the 2024-2025 season. pic.twitter.com/uvOpGXrrEf
