E-bikes may be expensive but Peruvian rider Ricardo Esquiche’s instinct for self-preservation overruled desire to save his bike while hanging on for dear life after crashing off a cliffside trail on Morro Solar, a headland south of Lima.
You can hear Ricardo repeating to himself to remain calm before announcing his decision to let go of his Specialized E-MTB and leave it to make the treacherous hike to safety unencumbered.
It wasn’t a total loss as Ricardo mentioned Grupo ICHMA, a group created to guarantee security in the Morro Solar de Chorrillos, helped recover his bike.
