This Zion National Park ranger was aghast when the sheet was finally pulled revealing a painstakingly detailed 3-D model of the park found inside the Human History Museum. If you’re a Zoolander fan you will appreciate his concern. While this model might only be fit for ants and needs to be “at least… 3x bigger” it offers visitors an informative overview of the 229 square miles of Zion’s “really, really, ridiculously good looking” terrain highlighted by multi-colored sandstone cliffs and intricately cut slot canyons. Got a good chuckle out this one. Nice work by Zion!
ZION NATIONAL PARK:
What is this? A park for ants??
We have chiseled rocks and stunning features. I think we both know that we’re really, really, really ridiculously good looking, so we decided to do that for a career: be professionally good looking. That’s right, we model. You know, we love modeling, so much so that we have models that you can explore when you visit.
Visit the Human History Museum and watch our 23-minute park film, learn about human history in the area, and check out a historic 3D model of Zion that is not a park for ants, we promise. Although it would need to be about 7,920 times bigger for a human. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be an ambi-turner to visit.
The Human History Museum is open every day from 9am to 6pm through the summer. Shuttles stop here on their way down to the Visitor Center.
About Zion Human History Museum:
The Zion Human History Museum displays artifacts and archival materials from the permanent collections of Zion National Park. These exhibits showcase the rich human history of the place now known as Zion National Park and illustrate the effects water has had upon both the peoples and the place. Both a creator and a destroyer, water has created the scenery and sanctuary which have driven people to travel through and settle in Zion Canyon for thousands of years. Exhibits include topics such as geology, plants, animals, survival, and community.
