LA CLUSAZ, France – It’s nice to see that there are people around the world who are unwilling to give up skiing for the summer, especially when it comes to celebrating national holidays on snow. These skiers in La Clusaz, France, celebrated Bastille Day (July 14) on snow in the Combe de Balme, getting a little summer Grand Prix alpine race going on the not-so-great looking snow.
According to French website Ski Chrono, 42 people competed in two rounds of the race, forced to hike, bike, or tour to the snowfield. While it looks more like a cut wiggle than an actual race course, it looks like it must have been a killer day. Happy (late) Bastille Day to our French friends!
