UNITED STATES – It might be near mid-July, but that doesn’t yet mean you can’t do some proper snow skiing. Your options are definitely limited, and might require a serious drive, but there are options. The first being to just hike somewhere. Drive into the mountains, find a patch of snow, and ski it. Five connected turns and it counts as skiing, that’s the rule. There are also actual organized summer skiing options, though. Two of them still have running chairlifts!
Timberline Lodge, Oregon
The slopes of Palmer Snowfield (accessed by Palmer Express) are still open to skiers and snowboarders, and they probably will continue to be open until the end of August at the earliest. Lifts at Timberline Lodge operate from 7am – 2pm every day. While summer camps and training may take up a solid chunk of the area throughout the week, public lanes will always be available (NOTE: This is not for beginners).
Big SNOW American Dream, New Jersey
The concept of skiing inside might scare some, but it might be a big part of the future. And if you’re committed, you know skiing is skiing, no matter where it is. Big SNOW American Dream is open from 1pm-8pm Monday-Thursday, 1pm-9pm on Fridays, 10am-9pm on Saturdays, and 10am-8pm on Sundays. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy two hours on the indoor slopes for $59.99.
Copper Mountain, Colorado
Copper Mountain in Colorado does not have lift access summer skiing, but they do have a hike-to park right in the Center Village. The hike park is open from 10am-5pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, so Coloradans (or those visiting) can hit rails every weekend as long as conditions continue to allow. Tickets are available for 25$.
