Bikers ride past grazing black bears.

WHISTLER, B.C. – If there’s one thing that screams British Columbia, it’s black bears. So it really is no surprise to see a bunch of mountain bikers riding past black bears casually grazing like cows at the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

I’ve been to Whistler three times now, twice in the winter and once in the summer, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen some black bears all three times. They’re just part of the lift out there.

According to Tourism Whistler, there are up to 60 black bears that call Whistler and Blackcomb their home, so you can’t be surprised when they show up. If you’re headed up to that area anytime during the summer, there are tours that specialize in black bear viewing, so make sure to check them out!
