Bear spotted on Katmai National Park's bear cam.

KATMAI NATIONAL PARK, Alaska – The first bear of the season was spotted on one of Katmai National Park’s bear cameras powered by Explore.org. The bear was captured on the Dumpling Mountain camera, wandering across the mountainside.

Explore.org & Katmai National Park’s bear cam is famous for its legendary ‘Fat Bear Week’, which puts the bears of the park head-to-head in a bracket challenge to determine who is the plumpest bear for that year. It’s unclear which bear was caught on camera in this clip, but with the early start, maybe we’ll see them in the competition.

Only two bear cams are currently running in the park, though the other seven will hopefully see some activity in the coming weeks.
