In the 1980s, Sarah Jane Nichols was a BMX World Champion. In 1986, the British athlete retired from competition, leaving the sport as the British champion.

But during the Covid-19 pandemic, Sarah Jane turned back to the track, and now she’s fighting her way back towards the top.

More than 30 years after she dominated the sport, BMX champion Sarah Jane Nichols has mounted a comeback.

In the world championships earlier this month, the 53-year-old athlete took second place in the 40-and-older race division, so she’s properly back in the competition, not just doing it for the laughs.
