We are big fans of pedal power but have a ton of mixed feeling about some the entitlement issues that bikers are known for on the streets. Riding your bike has is advantages over cars but it doesn’t give carte blanche to break the rules of the road, including waiting at train crossings:

Quick disclaimer: the reason why it was a close call is because the driver applied the emergency brakes which saved the biker, without the drivers quick thinking the situation would have been much different

Due to UP traffic, Amtrak San Joaquins was redirected onto track 1, which is normally used by the Amtrak long distance trains. This caused confusion, and a cyclist crossed the tracks last second and nearly killed himself!
