ACADIA NATIONAL PARK, Maine – A wildfire in Maine’s Acadia National Park was put out Saturday evening after the burn was reported around 5 p.m. According to Bangor Daily News, the burn took place on the park’s St. Sauveur Mountain.

Maine Forest Rangers shared photos and videos of the fight to their Facebook, noting that they were joined by the National Park Service and Southwest Harbor firefighters on the mountain top.

The Mount Desert Islander reports that there were two burn areas near the mountain’s summit, each about 40 by 20 yards. Officials did confirm that the fire was fully put out and that everyone is safe following the incident. An investigation into the cause of the fires is underway.

We’re beginning an investigation. We’re grateful for our partners in helping control the situation. We’re thankful for the community that we have.” – NPS Public Affairs Officer Amanda Pollock
