KIRKWOOD, California – Okay, we don’t condone skiing ski resorts when they aren’t open. I would say, technically speaking, that’s the same as ducking the ropes when the resort is open, but you have to check with your local resort to see if that’s something they allow.
Now that that’s said, Kirkwood ended its season on April 28. Then, the following few days after the closure, Kirkwood got a healthy amount of snowfall, all untouched, all unskied. So YouTuber Tahoe Mountain Life got out there and got after it, working their way up the mountain for fresh turns despite the lack of running lifts.
Again, some resorts may allow this, some may not. There were some skin tracks on the mountain before they got there, so it’s definitely not unheard of at Kirkwood. At the end of the day, as long as you’re not an idiot and you know what you’re during snow wise, this seems like it would be a really cool experience.
