Bridgton, Maine- Back in 2021, Shawnee Peak, now known as Pleasant Mountain, was sold to Boyne Resorts. While some moderate investments have been made, people were wondering when Boyne Resorts would start pumping major money into this place, as they do at their other properties. That time is now.

Today, Pleasant Mountain announced that they will be adding a high-speed quad chairlift this offseason. Called The Summit Express, the Doppelmayr detachable high-speed quad chairlift will replace the Summit Triple. It will have an uphill capacity of 2400 people per hour and travel at 1000 feet per minute. The ride time will be much quicker compared to its predecessor, clocking in at 4.5 minutes.

Construction will begin following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. The chairlift is expected to open during the 2024-25 season.
