Auburn, Maine- This coming offseason, Lost Valley will be increasing its uphill lift capacity.
Yesterday, Lost Valley Ski Area announced that they will be installing a used chairlift that formerly served Conneticut’s Mt. Southington. It was first reported by New England Ski Industry last year that Lost Valley had acquired the chairlift from Mt. Southington, and planned to install it.
Over at Mt. Southington, it was known as the Northstar chairlift and serviced beginner terrain. The fixed-grip double chairlift was originally situated at the now-abandoned Craigmeur ski area in New Jersey in 1976 before moving to the Connecticut ski area.
The new lift will be situated on the old T-bar line, which is now known as the Coyote trail. Installing this chairlift will give additional capacity out of Lost Valley’s base area and reduce lift lines. The refurbished Hall chairlift will service beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert trails and glades. Other parts of this project will include more snowmaking and night lights for that terrain pod. Lost Valley’s third chairlift is expected to open during the 2024-25 season.
