Bolton Valley Ski Resort’s president Lindsay DesLauriers was caught off guard by the overwhelming local pushback after they announced plans to convert an indoor skatepark into tennis and pickleball courts.

NBC5 reports spoke with DesLauriers who thinks their decision to share the news via Instagram wasn’t the best approach and they should have done a better job of communicating their process with the public before making the announcement official:

“We should have done more in terms of reaching out to the community leading up to the decision, engaging the community, and really sharing our rationale.”

Bolton followed up with another Instagram post stating they are putting a pause on their timeline for the project but not scrapping their plans. Bolton wants it clear that they realize they flubbed the rollout by not meeting their commitment to their community and plan to host a community forum soon.

The final day of the skatepark is currently scheduled for this Saturday. Bolton will also be fundraising for the skatepark in Waterbury.
