On Friday, Solitude Mountain Resort announced that their new mountain biking trails will open on Saturday, September 8th. The opening day will feature free donuts and a live DJ that will hopefully be playing Darude-Sandstorm the whole time.

With the new Gravity Logic designed trail network, it will be directly serviced by the Moonbeam Express chairlift. Gravity Logic is world-renowned for its mountain biking trail design, most notably for its build at Whistler Blackcomb.

Four new trails will be a part of the first phase: A green freeride trail, a blue freeride trail, a blue tech trail, and a black tech trail. The building of mountain biking trails will continue into the fall and then continue over the next few summers.

For the rest of the offseason, they’ll be running the Moonbeam, Link, and Sunrise chairlifts from Friday-Sunday If you’re an Ikon Pass holder, a season pass to the bike park only costs $80. Mountain bike rentals and lessons will also be available.

Currently, Solitude has a mountain biking network, but not all of the trails are lift-serviced. The likely casualty of this new park is the retirement of the Queen Bees and Serenity mountain biking routes.

In terms of other offseason projects, work continues on the new Eagle Express chairlift. All of the parts of the former chairlift have been removed, and foundational work for the new detachable high-speed six-pack chairlift has begun. Their goal is to open the new chairlift in the middle of December 2023. Other projects this offseason include three new Wyssen avalanche towers, renovations to the Inn at Solitude, and more.
