“They conducted experiments and spotted a hammerhead shark swimming into dumped packages and biting into them. That gave them what the scientists call “crazy brain” where they behaved erratically.”

We’ve all heard of Cocaine Bear but have you heard of cocaine sharks? An upcoming episode of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week will explore the longtime rumor of sharks coming into contact with cocaine jettisoned by smugglers into the waters off Florida’s coast. Several experiments were staged for the episode including one to see if sharks would be more inclined to go after fake swans or bales of fake cocaine. The episode airs Sunday…I’m definitely tuning in.

Shark Week Schedule 2023

This is the moment you’ve been waiting all year for…SHARK WEEK starts Sunday, July 23 at 8PM ET/PT on Discovery. SHARK WEEK will also be available to stream on Max.

Jason Momoa, the fan-favorite actor, superhero, and conservationist who is dedicated to protecting and preserving the world’s oceans, will host the 35th Shark Week.

Momoa will guide fans through nearly 20 new hours of television featuring the apex predators, including “Belly of the Beast: Feeding Frenzy” that will provide a first time, close-up look at a great white shark feast — captured by researchers with cameras inside a whale carcass decoy — or “Cocaine Sharks” that reveals what happens to sharks that possibly feed on cocaine and other illegal drugs dumped in South Florida waters.
