If you’re a fan of both snowboarding and snowmobiling, this invention from the people over at Power Traverse might appeal to you. Rather than spending money on a sled, dealing with lugging your board on your back, and figuring out who’s going to ride the sled back down the mountain (or how to get the sled down without anyone on board), just combine the board and the treads!
This guy is in pretty early development, and their website, powertraverse.com, isn’t even active yet. They’re currently in product testing, as of their last update. But it’s still a wicked cool concept. Imagine how awesome backcountry snowboarding could get with this. No need for a split board, no need for skins, just pure fun.
It does bring up the question of safety, and whether or not it would allow less responsible (i.e. those without avalanche training) into avalanche terrain. I guess we’ll have to see when this bad boy is launched!
