Exploring The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh History of Canada’s Sea-to-Sky Region

The entire Sea-to-Sky region of British Columbia, which follows B.C.’s Highway 99 from Vancouver to just around Whistler, is one of the most beautiful drives I’ve ever experienced. From gorgeous views of the ocean to amazing mountain peaks, it’s near impossible to feel disappointed throughout the trip. It is important, however, to remind yourself that the land you’re on, whether in your car or on your feet, has a history beyond that of the road and tourism, a history that’s often ignored.

This incredible short film released by Forecast Ski Magazine and The North Face highlights that history and the stories behind it, taking us alongside professional skier Alex Armstrong on a remarkable trip guided by Maia Antone, founder of Indigenous Women Outdoors. I’ll let the video itself do the rest of the talking.
