In recent years, Lake Tahoe has been dealing with a variety of issues, including a housing crunch, wildfires, and traffic. Sherry McConkey, who is the founder and director of the Shane McConkey Foundation, shared a video yesterday showing how bad the traffic situation around Lake Tahoe has become. The video shows footage of the many traffic jams that have occurred around Lake Tahoe. The traffic is one of the reasons why Homewood Mountain Resort, began its shift towards a private membership model.
To me, it comes down to ski resorts needing to make people make reservations, block off day tickets on peak/powder days, buy some buses, and then start offering shuttle services to locals to offload pressure from public transportation. Some people may not agree with me there, but it beat standstill traffic.
