The Sahara Desert is one of the most extreme climates on earth, but there are many forms of life that can brave the scorching temps and lack of water.

The Fennec Fox is the world’s smallest wild dog, and it lives in the orange and red sands of the Sahara.

Check out this clip from BBC Earth about how the Fennec Fox is able to survive in the world’s largest desert:

“Barely the size of a walking boot, the Fennec Fox (vulpes zerda) goes head-to-head with the Sahara. Against all odds, the smallest canine of all uses its unique abilities to survive and thrive in the hostile conditions under the scorching desert sun.”
