Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia announced some exciting news last week, as they’ll be replacing the Powder Monkey Chairlift for the 2023-24 season. They’ll be replacing the fixed-grip triple chairlift with a new fixed-grip quad. The Powder Monkey chairlift services mostly beginner and intermediate runs, but it also gives access to advanced and expert trails, along with multiple terrain parks.

The move is meant to reduce congestion on the trails around the Basin area, and will help to make accessing the Western Territory easier. It is the only lift on their frontside that directly accesses the Western Territory, so having a capacity increase to some of the most challenging terrain at Snowshoe is a vital improvement.
