If you’re a seasoned touring skier, some of this might seem like second nature but try remember back to when you just cutting your teeth in the backcountry and memories of the awkwardness of uphill travel will come flooding back.
It’s also important to remember proper skin care as an essential aspect to efficient backcountry travel.  Now is the time to give your skins a once over and consider using a skin wax for optimal glide and applying additional skin glue to the adhesive side over time to ensure proper sticking.
