Speed skiing is one of the more quirky disciplines of sliding on snow.

Grown men wear latex suits and Darth Vader-esque helmets to ski as fast as possible down a insanely-steep slopes. Totally normal, right?

Does anybody know why the ski releases so easily in the video?

Only explanation I can think of is that their DIN settings are low to avoid injuries. That would make sense why he popped out so easily, but it doesn’t explain what caused his ski to turn into shrapnel… Mysterious.
