Teacup Rock, one of the most iconic landmarks of Canada’s Prince Edward Island, was destroyed this past weekend after tropical storm Fiona hammered the region for more than 12 hours. Teacup Rock was located on Thunder Cove Beach, an area known for its geological diversity and beautiful examples of natural erosion.
“The Teacup has seen baby announcements, gender reveals, family pictures, marriage proposals and even ashes were spread near the Teacup — all significant life events.” – Marg Chisholm-Ramsay according to CBC
According to the Associated Press, Fiona was no longer a hurricane when it hit eastern Canada, but, as a post-tropical storm, it still created hurricane-force winds. Two eastern-Canadian provinces saw mass power-outages and major destruction on Saturday as the storm touched ground.
