If you own a Polaris snowmobile, you want to check what model you have right now. The company announced on Tuesday that they are recalling three different snowmobile models, as the recall is estimated to affect 230,000 units globally. When these models have degraded fuel or have been in storage for a long time, they are believed to pose a risk of fire due to electrostatic discharge (ESD) inside the fuel tank.” In certain instances, vapors may be ignited inside the fuel tank, posing a potential injury hazard to consumers.” There have been thirty reported instances of this happening so far, with sixteen fires and one injury.

The models listed as stop riding, stop selling” include the 2021- 2023 models of the Matryx, the 2015- 2022 models of the Axys, and the 2013 and ’14 models of the Select Trail Performance. It’s the second recall they’ve had in the past week, and the fifth time in the past five months. It’s a concerning trend for Polaris, and their snowmobile’s reliability is clearly something they’ll need to address in the future.
