Ski Portillo isn’t the only major Chilean ski resort that has seen some significant powder lately. After opening for the season on June 30th, Valle Nevado has had an excellent start to its season. Valle Nevado has received 172 centimeters (around 68 inches) so far this season, which was encapsulated by two major powder days on Sunday and Monday. According to their snow totals on Monday night, Valle Nevado received 35 cm(around 14 inches) of snow in the last twenty-four hours, and 75 cm(nearly 30 inches of snow) in the past forty-eight hours. After the 75 centimeters of fresh powder, the sun came out, leading to a stunning bluebird day. Additionally, more snow is on the way throughout this week. With Covid restrictions being loosened, this may be the year to make it to the Southern Hemisphere(if your flight doesn’t get canceled). You can view the latest conditions at Valle Nevado here.
