Mountain biker Steve Hoffman encountered a cougar while on the trail in Arcata Community Forest, CA. He captured the encounter and shared to the Nextdoor app to warm community members of the cougar’s presence.

Hoffman told Lost Coast Outpost that the cougar was sitting in the middle of the trail when he came around the corner and then jumped into the bushes. Hoffman stopped in his tracks and filmed for 10 minutes not really knowing what to do, and not knowing where the cougar was.
Hoffman said he didn’t feel threatened, but wanted to make sure he was in the clear before proceeding down the trail. Hoffman continued his ride once the cougar scampered away.
