The Environmental Reason Why Fjällräven Doesn’t Use GORE-TEX

While GORE-TEX is popular among outdoor clothing brands for its protection against wetter weather, it’s an environmental hazard. GORE-TEX is breathable, waterproof, light, and tough, making it a great clothing option for those who are outdoors in varied conditions. Unfortunately, they contain Perfluorochemicals (PFCs), which are carcinogens and are detrimental to the natural ecosystem. While some brands like Patagonia only use it when necessary, Fjällräven has moved away from them. This video from Future Proof explains why Fjällräven has stayed away from GORE-TEX and has instead produced its own sustainable materials.
