WATCH: Abandoned Ski Area Transformed Into Stunning Hiking Destination

If you’re making a trip to Ogunquit or York this summer, this is an excellent hiking spot to check out. Mt. Agamenticus was a Maine ski area that operated from 1964 to 1974. The resort closed in the 1970s due to an inadequate snowmaking system, a low elevation, and a lack of natural snowfall. Since then, an extensive network of hiking trails has been developed, which gives visitors views of the relics of the old ski area, the Atlantic Ocean, and even the White Mountains on a clear day. WCVB 5 traveled to the lost ski area to check it out. The second portion of the video covers the Scarborough Marsh, which is the state’s largest saltwater estuary. The footage from WCVB 5 is below.
