New Denver Hotel Will Be Carbon Positive (Zero Emissions + Removes CO2 From Atmosphere)

“Not only will Populus be the country’s first carbon-positive hotel, but it will be a stunning architectural landmark by Studio Gang that will forever alter Denver’s skyline and contribute to the architectural legacy of the entire Mountain West.” – Grant McCargo, Developer

One of the most exciting developments in Denver will bring a Carbon Positive hotel next to Civic Center Park. NBC 9News reports that Studio Gang recently revealed plans for a building that will be an architectural highlight of Denver. The thirteen-story, 265-room hotel will feature district eye-shaped windows that are inspired by Aspen Trees and will be the first Carbon Positive hotel in the United States. According to Fast Company, being Carbon Positive describes a property that “goes beyond achieving net-zero carbon emissions to actually create an environmental benefit by removing additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.” The hotel will also feature a green roof,  restaurant, bar, retail and event space, bike shop, cafe, and more. The hotel is expected to open in 2023.“We’ve created Populus to be a catalyst for change and to meet the increasing preference by today’s consumers to travel responsibly, experience places in an authentic way, and connect more deeply with nature and each other.” – Jon Buerge, Chief Development Officer & Partner at Urban Villages
