Skier Triggers Avalanche During Freeride World Tour Qualifier (Watch)

The video below shows a skier triggering a substantial avalanche during a Freeride World Tour qualifier event at Nendaz, Switzerland.

The drone’s camera doesn’t do a great job of capturing the beginning of the slide, but it appears that the skier triggered the avalanche, and ends up getting caught by it after throwing a backflip further down the mountain.

Thankfully he was okay, and he escaped from the debris after going for a scary ride down the face of the mountain.

The caption claims that 20 athletes had landed in the same area prior to this happening. It’s a stark reminder that avalanches can occur at any time.

Please be safe out there, friends.
