Federation Of International Skiing Cancels All Events In Russia

The Federation of International Skiing (FIS) has announced a cancelation of all events set to take place in Russia for the remaining 2021-22 season.  The cancelation comes after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, affecting a total of six events. Two of the canceled events, the FIS Ski Cross World Cup and the FIS Aerials World Cup, were meant to take place this weekend, beginning on February 25th and February 26th. Competitors were on site for the events before the cancellation was announced, and the FIS is working to get them home quickly and safely.

Russian athletes will still be able to compete in FIS competitions, though the Russian flag and anthem will be replaced with the FIS flag and anthem. Replacement dates and locations for the canceled events will be announced as they are confirmed. The list of canceled events, as provided by the FIS, is as follows:

“FIS Ski Cross World Cup – 25-27 February, Sunny Valley (RUS)
FIS Aerials World Cup – 26-27 February, Yaroslavl (RUS)
FIS Aerials World Cup – 5 March, Moscow (RUS)
