With historic snowfall to start their season off at The Summit at Snoqualmie, the crowds have shown up to the mountain that is only an hour away from Seattle. In response, The Summit at Snoqualmie will be introducing a reservation system for Ikon Passholders. Reservation slots opened up today at 8 am Pacific Time, and you will need to reserve for dates ranging from January 15th onwards. Those who show up after 2 pm do not need to reserve.
Two unique factors likely have led to Summit at Snoqualmie to make this move: their staffing shortages, and unique road situation. While the mountain is only an hour away from hours, its road, Snoqualmie Pass, has been closed frequently this season due to the massive amount of snowfall. This leads to traffic and bigger crowds when the mountain has been able to open in the past couple of weeks. For example, the ski resort was closed on Saturday and Sunday, and much of last week as well due to avalanche danger and clearing the road of snow. The mountain is the second in the state of Washington to recently introduce a reservation system, with Crystal Mountain introducing a parking reservation system last week.
