Burst Pipe Soaks Loaded Chairlift At North Carolina Ski Resort

“Our operations and safety team worked diligently to unload the lift and drain the system safely. Avery EMS transported two patrons to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. We believe everyone is okay outside of the unfortunate situation, and operations are on a regular schedule.”

Two people at Beech Mountain Resort in North Carolina were injured after a snowmaking hose burst under a loaded chairlift soaking skiers and snowboarders while the temperature dipped as low as 7 degrees. Trapped skiers jumped 25 feet from the chairlift to safety, but Beech Mountain notes that resort staff did not give skiers the instruction to jump. The footage is wild:
