Skiers and snowboarders at Steamboat Ski Resort were joined by a pair of bull moose who emerged from the woods and trotted across a busy trail near the Thunderhead Express lift. Denver 7 reports the duo slowed to a walk on the opposite side of the run where they gently sparred for a few minutes.

Thankfully in this instance the moose remained calm and uninterested in people but they can be aggressive and unpredictable. Weighing up to 1,500 lbs with a top speed of 35 mph, moose are formidable threats and encounters should be taken seriously. Colorado Parks and Wildlife recommends always keeping a safe distance from moose and keeping pets leashed when outside. To learn more about living in moose country GO HERE.
