This climber saved his own life by successfully self-arresting on Colorado’s South Arapaho Peak. He slips while descending the snow covered face, but he’s able to stop himself from falling too far by digging his ice axe into the snow.

This is a technique any mountaineer should know how to do if they’re planning on climbing a peak with snow, but damn it looked hella sketchy that he actually had to do it.

Looks like he would have slid for thousands of feet before coming to a natural stop, and I’m guessing he would have had serious injuries if it wasn’t for this life-saving self arrest.

Good work.
