West Mountain in Queensbury, New York unveiled a major improvement plan over the weekend, which would result in a ginormous transformation of the ski resort. The mountain is planning on adding new condos and homes, hotels, new high-speed chairlifts, a spa and athletic club, and much more. A great perk to a potential home or condo ownership is its location. West Mountain is located right in between Saratoga Springs and Lake George, two of New Yorks’s most iconic tourist destinations. This means there’s a bunch to do in both the winter and summertime all around.

According to West Mountain, plans for future development include:

“174 doors (luxury condos, duplexes & 52 custom homes)+ a posh 60-80 room hotel & conference ctr.
– High-Speed Detach Chairlift with mid-station loading in center of the plaza, landing high on the mountain, allowing access to the backside of mtn & 1,200 plateau.
– Spa & West Athletic Club & Infinity Pool.
-Plaza with stores, coffee shop, restaurants & full-service ski shop.
-The Woods at West Mountain upscale resort-tranquil with walking/hiking paths along old cobblestone fence lines & through old-growth Locust Tree groves.
– Epic views of VT & looking up the mountain.
– New modern full-service NW lodge.
– Ownership/rental opportunities.
– 4-Line High-Speed Zipline over the Midway.
-High Demand expected-anticipate utilizing lottery system coupled with pre-sale lot/unit reservation method for balanced/fair distribution local & out-of-area purchasers.”
Since buying the mountain in 2013, the Montgomery family has spent millions of dollars to bring the ski resort up to date. These upgrades have included new lifts, renovated lodges, moving to 100% snowmaking coverage, night skiing expansion, new summer attractions, and more. If you’re looking to buy or rent a ski crib that’s not on the market at Colorado and Utah prices, West Mountain could be a good option to keep an eye on.
