Yeti Cycles, a high-end mountain bike brand out of Golden, CO has introduced their first electric mountain bike. This makes Yeti the latest of the boutique, core bike brands to make the leap into the E-MTB market.
Regardless of your stance on these electric-assist bikes, it has been interesting to watch these core brands start to embrace the trend. Larger manufacturers like Specialized have dominated the e-bike game in the US since the beginning. Pivot Cycles was one of the first high-end, smaller, brands to make the leap. Santa Cruz introduced the Heckler e-bike two years ago and has since added additional motorized models. Ibis Cycles remains a notable holdout.
The Yeti 160E has 160mm of rear-wheel travel, rolls on 29-inch wheels, and has a 64.5-degree head angle. It is powered by a Shimano motor and a 630WH battery. Start saving your pennies because this thing ain’t cheap. Build kits come start at $10,000.
