VIDEO: The Australian Man Who Beat the Tour de France in Sandals (3417 Miles in 17 Days)

“Imagine winning the Tour de France. Now imagine doing that without any of the perks — no mechanics, no hotels, no crew at all….in sandals.”

Meet Lachlan Morton, the Australian pro-cyclist who did something quite remarkable this summer to raise awareness for World Bicycle Relief, a nonprofit that finds bicycles for people in need. Lachlan dubbed his quest the ‘Alt Tour de France’ and achieved his goal by riding 200 miles a day, beating the entire pack by 5 days time, all this while wearing sandals. All in all he rode an incredible 3417 miles in just 17 days, raising more than $688K. Check out the story of his journey and if you’re inspired to contribute to his cause, please donate to HERE:

CHANGING LIVES WITH BICYCLES

World Bicycle Relief mobilizes people through The Power of Bicycles. We are committed to helping people conquer the challenge of distance, achieve independence and thrive.
THE NEED
In developing regions of the world, millions of people walk for miles each day just to survive. On foot, individuals race against the sun to complete everyday tasks. Distance is a barrier to attending school, receiving healthcare, and delivering goods to market.
OUR RESPONSE
World Bicycle Relief delivers specially designed, locally assembled, rugged bicycles for people in need. We’ve developed an efficient, innovative, and scalable model to empower students, health workers, and entrepreneurs in rural developing regions with life-changing mobility. MORE INFO HERE
