Skier Poaches Line On Black Slag Dune (100 Years of Copper Smelting Byproduct)

Anaconda | Silver Snag Studio
Anaconda slag pile

A black dune rises above the town of Anaconda, MT.

The dune, not made of sand, is comprised of 100 years worth of a copper smelting byproduct called slag. The slag dune site in Anaconda takes up 16 acres and contains 129,000 cubic yards of slag.

The dune could be viewed as an eyesore, but Patrick Conroy (drone operator) and Robert Lester (skier) saw it as the perfect opportunity for a sick shot, and they definitely hit the mark on this one.
