Emery County is a rural and conservative community that was ‘ambushed’ by boulderers when word spread through Salt Lake City about boulder-filled Joe’s Valley near Orangeville, UT in the mid-90s.
The conservative mormon community was abrasive to the hippie-looking climbers invading their way of life, but The United States of Joe’s show how the communities have come together over the last 25 years in a mutually respective and inspiring way.
