Blind Hiker Makes History By Summitting Mt. Everest

Zhang Hong is the first blind man from Asia, and the third blind man ever to summit the world’s highest peak. He accomplished the feat on May 24th.

Hong lost his sight as a young adult, but that didn’t stop him from training for five years to climb Mt. Everest.

He trained by climbing the stairs of the hospital he works at and carrying a 66 pound backpack.

What an incredible accomplishment. The balls/guts it took him to even attempt, let alone summit, Mt. Everest is remarkable.
