China has announced it will set up “a line of separation” at the summit of Mount Everest to prevent the mixing of climbers from Covid-hit Nepal and Chinese nationals ascending from the Tibetan side as a precautionary measure. CNN reports the base camp on the Nepalese side has been hit by coronavirus cases since late April.

It was not really clear how this line would be marked and enforced on the summit (approximately the size of dining table) but a team of Tibetan climbing guides has already been dispatched to ahead of a group of 21 Chinese nationals to establish the boundary. We will be sure to update this story as details emerge. images from wikipedia.org
