This video of an avalanche in Chamonix, France really shows the punch a big slide can deliver. As you can see in the video shot by @alohaskischool, a very large avalanche can be seen coming down a valley right in the direction of a home. Moments later you can hear and see the impact of the avalanche shockwave in front of the actual slide.
