These are not your mainstream ski resorts. They do not have condo villages or latte lounges, but the skiing at these “hills” is the real deal. So if you’re more into the skiing and less into the lifestyle, check one or all of these great American ski areas out.
Cannon Mountain
If you have spent time skiing with anyone from New Hampshire, you probably already know about Cannon Mountain. The often overlook Cannon Mountain can get cold, windy, and icy to which we say, Good. This ain’t California. Go sharpen your edges and get after it.
Bridger Bowl
The ski terrain at Bridger is legendary. And for good reason. Big chutes and in-your-face steeps can be accessed mear feet from chairlift unloading zones. This is a real skiers mountain. Just make sure you bring your avalanche gear if you want to access all the goods.
Mad River Glen
All clichés aside, Mad River Glen is jammed packed with challenging skiing that will leave your legs burning. There is a reason why some of the best skiers on the East call this place home.
Mount Bohemia
Midwest skiing does not get any more challenging than Mt. Boho. The ski resort located on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan offers cliff drops and triple black diamond backcountry terrain.
Mt. Rose, NV
The chutes at Mt. Rose are hands down some of the best ski terrain in North America. The 55-degree pitch makes these chutes legitimate big mountain terrain. Oh, and its 20 minutes from downtown Reno, NV. You gotta chack them out!
