Denver Current Air Pollution = Smoking 2 Cigarettes Per Day

“We’re each smoking 2 cigarettes per day in Denver. Current air pollution (specifically small particulate matter ppm2.5) suggests we’ve all now smoked over a pack of cigarettes in the last two weeks. Daily ppm2.5 are running 40-60 ug/m^3 depending on site. This is sometimes called lung dust.” –Chris Tomer

Would you believe Denver is only behind Beijing and Dubai for worst metropolitan air quality? The worst week of wildfire danger since 2002 has put so much particulate matter in the atmosphere that just living in the Mile High City is the same as smoking two cigs a day.  Do what you can to support firefighting efforts and for goodness sake don’t do anything fire related in the woods.
